Obama's military commander in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal, has requested to greatly increase the presence of U.S. armed forces there. The Libertarian Party opposes this plan.  In September 2008, the Libertarian National Committee adopted this resolution:

WHEREAS the government of the United States should return to its historical libertarian tradition of avoiding entangling alliances, foreign quarrels, and military adventures; and

WHEREAS the stability and security of Afghanistan lie outside the jurisdiction of the government of the United States; and

WHEREAS the Libertarian Party recognizes that the only legitimate role of the military is to defend America against direct attack or the imminent threat of attack;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Libertarian National Committee calls on the government of the United States to withdraw the armed forces of the United States from Afghanistan, without undue delay.

Democrats often claim to oppose foreign wars. But after eight months in total control of Congress and the White House, Democrats have done nothing to end the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

All the problems with the American health care system come from government intervention, so naturally the Democrats' idea for fixing it is more government intervention. This is like trying to sober up by having another drink.

The reason seeing a doctor is already more like going to the DMV, and less like going to the Apple "Genius Bar," is that the government decided health care was too important to be left to the free market. Yes -- the same free market that has produced such a cornucopia of inexpensive goods and services that, today, even poor people have cell phones and flat-screen TVs.

As a result, it's easier to get your computer fixed than your health. Thanks, government!

We already have near-universal health coverage in the form of Medicare, Medicaid, veterans' hospitals, emergency rooms and tax-deductible employer-provided health care -- all government creations.

So now, everyone expects doctors to be free. People who pay $200 for a haircut are indignant if it costs more than a $20 co-pay to see a doctor.

The government also "helped" us by mandating that insurance companies cover all sorts of medical services, both ordinary -- which you ought to pay for yourself -- and exotic, such as shrinks, in vitro fertilization and child-development assessments -- which no normal person would voluntarily pay to insure against.

This would be like requiring all car insurance to cover the cost of gasoline, oil and tire changes -- as well as professional car detailing, iPod docks, and leather seats and those neon chaser lights I have all along the underbody of my chopped, lowrider '57 Chevy.

But politicians are more interested in pleasing lobbyists for acupuncturists, midwives and marriage counselors than they are in pleasing recent college graduates who only want to insure against the possibility that they'll be hit by a truck. So politicians at both the state and federal level keep passing boatloads of insurance mandates requiring that all insurance plans cover a raft of non-emergency conditions that are expensive to treat -- but whose practitioners have high-priced lobbyists.

As a result, a young, healthy person has a choice of buying artificially expensive health insurance that, by law, covers a smorgasbord of medical services of no interest to him ... or going uninsured. People who aren't planning on giving birth to a slew of children with restless leg syndrome in the near future forgo insurance -- and then politicians tell us we have a national emergency because some people don't have health insurance.

The whole idea of insurance is to insure against catastrophes: You buy insurance in case your house burns down -- not so you can force other people in your plan to pay for your maid. You buy car insurance in case you're in a major accident, not so everyone in the plan shares the cost of gas.

Just as people use vastly different amounts of gasoline, they also use vastly different amounts of medical care -- especially when an appointment with a highly trained physician costs less than a manicure.

Insurance plans that force everyone in the plan to pay for everyone else's Viagra and anti-anxiety pills are already completely unfair to people who rarely go to the doctor. It's like being forced to share gas bills with a long-haul trucker or a restaurant bill with Michael Moore. On the other hand, it's a great deal for any lonely hypochondriacs in the plan.

Now the Democrats want to force us all into one gigantic national health insurance plan that will cover every real and mythical ailment that has a powerful lobby. But if you have a rare medical condition without a lobbying arm, you'll be out of luck.

Even two decades after the collapse of liberals' beloved Soviet Union, they can't grasp that it's easier and cheaper to obtain any service provided by capitalism than any service provided under socialism.

You don't have to conjure up fantastic visions of how health care would be delivered in this country if we bought it ourselves. Just go to a grocery store or get a manicure. Or think back to when you bought your last muffler, personal trainer, computer and every other product and service available in inexpensive abundance in this capitalist paradise.

Third-party payer schemes are always a disaster -- less service for twice the price! If you want good service at a good price, be sure to be the one holding the credit card. Under "universal health care," no one but government bureaucrats will be allowed to hold the credit card.

Isn't food important? Why not "universal food coverage"? If politicians and employers had guaranteed us "free" food 50 years ago, today Democrats would be wailing about the "food crisis" in America, and you'd be on the phone with your food care provider arguing about whether or not a Reuben sandwich with fries was covered under your plan.

Instead of making health care more like the DMV, how about we make it more like grocery stores? Give the poor and tough cases health stamps and let the rest of us buy health care -- and health insurance -- on the free market.

A telling episode recounted by Senate Finance ranking member Charles Grassley reveals the Obama administration might be more worried than they are letting on that a Republican senator's comparison of the healthcare overhaul to Waterloo might be dangerously close to the truth.

Grassley said he spoke with a Democratic House member last week who shared Obama's bleak reaction during a private meeting to reports that some factions of House Democrats were lining up to stall or even take down the overhaul unless leaders made major changes.

"Let's just lay everything on the table," Grassley said. "A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn't going to pass if there weren't some changes made ... and the president says, 'You're going to destroy my presidency.' "

Get this straight: President Barack Obama lies when lying offers the best path to his personal success.  He lies with alacrity and without embarrassment.

Before and after his election, he pledged to the American people that those of us who make “less than $250,000 a year would not see a dime in increased taxes”.

Before six months had passed, Obama has already almost passed the biggest tax increase on ALL Americans in our history.  Obama hides his tax scam behind the title “Cap and Trade”.  All that is needed for Obama to be able to sign that tax increase into law is a vote in a Senate dominated by liberal Democrats.  Normal America might yet turn back the Cap and Trade tax, but the prospects are not good.  Plan to be hit by a few thousand dollars in new taxes each and every year.  Many new cars would cost you less than Obama’s new tax will cost you.

As Obama shoves through his very radical agenda, a tactic has emerged – his need for speed. 

Beginning with his “stimulus” scam, he has forced legislators to vote for his proposals before they have a chance to read and consider it.  NO member of either House had read the “stimulus” bill.  Not a soul.  The same “hurry up, shut up, and pass the bill” tactic has been used and is being used in other Obama legislative efforts.

No wonder.  Reading and analyzing his radical ideas wont go down well with normal America.  Democrats are even opposing legislation that would require those voting on legislation to have read the bill on which they are voting.

Imagine!!  Reading what you are being asked to approve and pass into law!  What a radical idea – but Rham Emanuel and other denizens of the Socialist Chicago Democrat Machine don't care about democracy as it interferes with their fascist agenda.

Most people do not understand the sheer magnitude of the Executive branch. There are almost 3 million federal employees, 99 percent of whom are career civil servants over whom the president has virtually no authority. Seventeen states have fewer citizens than the federal government has bureaucrats.

There are only a few thousand positions within the federal government that are subject to “noncompetitive appointment,” i.e., positions that the president can fill through political patronage. Among these are 1,137 positions that can be filled by presidential appointment with Senate confirmation; 320 positions subject to presidential appointment without confirmation; and 701 positions in the Senior Executive Service (the top level of managers within the federal ranks) that can be filled by non-career appointments.

As these numbers illustrate, it is the career civil servants who pull the millions of levers of power, not the few political appointees at the top of every agency. It is very difficult for the appointees to even keep track of the policies being implemented by the career staff, much less change them.

Working for the federal government seems to instill an utter disdain for limits on governmental power. The idea that a regulation might unconstitutionally infringe individual rights or preempt an area that is traditionally the responsibility and authority of a sovereign state simply never occurred to most of the career employees I encountered. Years of working for a very large federal bureaucracy instills the ultimate regulatory mindset in career civil servants — when there is doubt about whether the federal government has the authority to do something, they never err on the side of not regulating. The rule is: when in doubt, regulate.
 

In 2003 when U.S. Customs Office of Investigation and the INS were merged and transferred into the Department of Homeland Stupidity and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (BICE)  was created.

The shit began to hit the fan in Mexico after 2005 when experienced Customs agents were taken out of their money laundering groups and sent to meat packing plants around the country round up a few hundred undocumented aliens.  BICE was changed to ICE. It seemed a kinder and gentler way, frozen water, recreational drugs and the Intercontinental Commodities Exchange be damned, for the feds to label their interior immigration enforcement arm.

The drug lords in Mexico used to spend most of their time dealing with U.S. Customs agents fighting the war on drugs.  When ICE agents stopped being in  the drug enforcement/money laundering business, to chase illegals working at Pilgrims Pride twice a year, the cartels began to fight each other over turf and control of the billion dollar illegal narcotics smuggling business from Mexico into the United States.  The cartels money was no longer being seized by Customs, and was now available to fund the fight between rival Mexican drug cartels. Arms flowed freely into Mexico from the U.S. because Customs agents previously assigned to arms smuggling groups were now apprehending & processing "guats" at Iowa Kosher meat processing plants.

Fast forward to yesterday: 

(CNN) Coordinated attacks in at least eight Mexican cities killed three federal police officers and two soldiers Saturday in what officials are calling an unprecedented onslaught by drug gangs.

Another 18 federal officers were wounded, the state-run Notimex news agency reported, citing federal police official Rodolfo Cruz Lopez.

The attacks were in retribution for the capture early Saturday of Arnoldo Rueda Medina, a high-ranking member of the drug cartel known as La Familia Michoacana (The Michoacan Family), Notimex reported.

Rueda is considered second in command to the group's two top leaders, Nazario "El Chayo" Moreno González and José " El Chango" de Jesús Méndez Vargas, acting as a "right arm" to Moreno, the secretary of public security said Saturday in a statement.

Among other allegations, he was arrested for his role in designing the hierarchy of the organization, the production of synthetic drugs and movement of marijuana and cocaine to the United States, said Mexico's secretary of public security. Rueda was arrested along with a 17-year-old male who worked for him.

Following his arrest Saturday morning in Morelia, Michoacan, men armed with high-powered rifles and grenades attacked the police station where he was being held, the Secretary of Public Security said.

After failing to win his freedom, members of the group launched attacks in the cities of Morelia, Zitacuaro, Zamora, Lazaro Cardenas, Apatzingan, La Piedad and Huetamo in Michoacan state, Notimex news said, citing federal police.

The three officers were killed in Zitacuaro, police official Eduardo Moran told CNN en Español, while six police officers were reported wounded in Morelia.

Two soldiers were killed in Zamora, shot by men in a passing car as they walked to their headquarters. The Secretary of Public Security told the newspaper Cambio de Michoacan that 25 spent shells from an R-15 rifle and 17 from an AK-47 were found at the scene.

Michoacan is in west-central Mexico, on the Pacific coast.

Another rifle and grenade attack took place near Acapulco in Guerrero state, which borders Michoacan, but no one was injured.

Saturday's attacks came just days after a drug gang in Tijuana declared they were at war with police, threatening to kill five officers every week until Police Chief Julian Leyzaola resigns.

The threat was made in a note found on the windshield of a slain officer's car, news reports said.

At least three Tijuana officers have been killed since Monday, reports said. Leyzaola, a former army colonel, replaced a police chief removed from office in December after receiving numerous threats.

"Leyzaola has become the poster boy for honest police work, which has put the drug gangs on notice," Vicente Calderon, a reporter for the Tijuana Press news agency, told CNN affiliate KUSI.

"They believe he is serious, that he means business and is trying to re-establish the rule of law that has been affecting the city and whole state for many years since organized crime established themselves in Baja [California]."

Tijuana, the westernmost city in Mexico, is across the border from San Diego, California. Sixteen police officers have died there in 2009, and officers are now patrolling the city in groups of six, KUSI reported.

The federal government in the United States is out of touch and out of control. The creation of the Department of Homeland Security did more to hurt our nation than help it.  We are a nation that has allowed our elected officials to destroy our freedom, our economy and our Constitution. NOTHING good has happened at DHS.  ICE has done nothing to slow illegal immigration. More illegals have self deported since December 2007 than ICE has arrested since its founding in 2003.

Today, ICE agents are not even allowed to arrest the illegals working in the meat packing plants and other businesses across America. Prez ObamaHood has ordered a freeze on interior immigration enforcement pending the passing of amnesty legislation. ICE agents now sit around the office pretending to audit I/9 forms. In other words, they do nothing and collect $100,000+ a year salaries with the best retirement benefits in the country. Mean while the drug war in Mexico is out of control and more illegal drugs come into the U.S. than ever before.

Wake up America. Elected officials and Bureaucrats are giving all of us the finger. Our nation and our neighbors to the south are much worse off today, than we were prior to 9/11/2001. The time has come to hold our elected representatives and our bureaucrats responsible for their actions.  Mid Term elections will be our next big chance. EVERY SINGLE INCUMBENT needs to be voted out of office. The time has come to start over again.

Deflation is considered harmful to economy because

1. People delay spending, hoping prices will be cheaper next year
2. Workers resist nominal wage cuts, therefore, real wages rise causing real wage unemployment.
3. Real interest rates become too high. Even interest rates of 0% cannot induce people to spend creating a liquidity trap.
4. Deflation increases the burden of debt

Look for Deflation to happen in the second half of this year and into 2010, which is going to be the financial disaster that finally wakes the public up to the ObamaNation. It's going to get worse before it gets better, but the light at the end of the tunnel will be the 2010 midterm elections. It will be the Republican's to lose. The economy, especially unemployment is going to be THAT bad thanks to Obama.

When deflation ends, hyper inflation will take over. We are going to have our own lost decade just like Japan. The U.S. lost any chance of keeping this recession under control with the election of Obama, a confirmed American Progressive with a fascist economic agenda.

3. Convince the masses that your upper-crust university education naturally puts you on an intellectual plane from which to understand everything even when you understand nothing. Imperialists were able to convince the people that their elite university educations allowed them to understand what Africa needed. Many of today's Nigerians-having followed that lead-hold all sorts of degrees and certificates-but what good are they if you can't find a job?   
4. Lie to the people and tell them that progress is being made even though things are clearly becoming worse.  One thing that the British forgot to mention to their Nigerian constituents was that one day, the resources that were being used to engineer "progress" (which the British had confiscated from the Africans to begin with!) would eventually run out. After WWII, Western Europe could no longer afford to hold on to their African colonies. So all of the counterfeit countries that the Europeans created were then left high-and-dry to fend for themselves. This was the main reason behind the African independence movements of the1950 and 60's. What will a post-Obama America look like?

Republicans have been wandering around in the darkness for a while. Absent a viable third party candidate, the Republicans must emerge from the darkness with a strong dedication to the principles of the founding fathers.  Many are hoping for another Reagan, but there'll never be another like him.  Some believe Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl  are the future of the party.  Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage.  Sarah Palin is sincere but has zero chance of defeating Obama. Her weird resignation from elected office is the final nail in her coffin. I guess she plans to spend the free time boning up on facts and info so she can be a candidate in the future. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We're spending trillions that we don't have. This could lead to hyper inflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda.  But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package.  These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for Federal government control of ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, & NATIONAL HEALTH CARE.

Obama is a bad joke. He is more of a cult leader than a President. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed. Fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people were in pain, and the mantra of "change" caused people to act emotionally.  Any Democrat would have won this election. The only surprise was the result being as close as it was.

In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power.  If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll.  If it's between 8-10%, it'll be a dogfight.  2012 will be all about the economy.

The fiscal 2010 budget proposal from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would rearrange several of its offices to improve the alignment of their missions within the department, including the transfer of the Federal Protective Service (FPS) from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD).

Since its inception, DHS has had a willingness to experiment with the placement of some of its offices and agencies until a best fit is discovered, Shingler observed. For example, the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) came into DHS as part of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As air marshals are law enforcement officers like ICE agents, DHS moved them into ICE for a time but ultimately decided to move them back to TSA. It simply worked better there, Shingler said, because it was more closely aligned with the mission of TSA than that of ICE.

"FPS has been one of those little guys on the to-do list since the very beginning," Shingler remarked. "It could certainly fit in ICE because it's been there for a while now.  But it could be other places. It really doesn't do immigration or customs cases. It does come across immigration and customs things if an illegal alien tries to go to work for a government agency, then FPS does make arrests that impact the ICE mission. But across the board, they don't really do immigration or Customs cases. They do much more work in infrastructure protection."

Once FPS is removed, ICE will be staffed by only former INS personnel with the exception of legacy U.S. Customs Service special agents.  U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been working behind the scenes to obtain Series 1811 criminal investigators. It seems likely that many of those new positions would be filled by legacy Customs special agents currently assigned to ICE. 

A similar situation happened in 1973 when many Customs special agents were force transferred to DEA. The majority of the agents returned to "mother" Customs with very few staying at DEA.  Since 2003 when ICE was formed, many legacy Customs agents have left ICE transferring to other agencies and retiring in record numbers.  Approximately 1500 legacy Customs agents still work at ICE.  Ask any current ICE employee and they will tell you that over 90% of the remaining legacy Customs agents would rather work at CBP. 

It's very clear now, that DHS is a bureaucratic disaster and a total mess. Both agencies are stuck under DHS but ICE has become INS and CBP is the legacy Customs Service.  DHS is what happens when Congress over reacts and the result is even a bigger disaster.  Billions of taxpayers dollars have been wasted by the creation of DHS and the country is less secure than it was prior to September 11, 2001. Creating more bureaucracy is never the answer to government's problems.  When will we learn this very simple lesson?

Former South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun committed suicide Saturday by leaping to his death from a hill behind his house, the South Korean government announced.

"I am in debt to too many people," the note reads. "Too many people have suffered because of me. And I cannot imagine the suffering they will go through in the future."

Roh's death came amid an investigation into a bribery scandal that had tarnished his reputation.

Prosecutors were investigating the former president for allegedly receiving $6 million in bribes from a South Korean businessman while in office. Roh's wife was scheduled to be questioned by prosecutors Saturday, and Roh was planning to answer a second round of questions next week.

    McIntosh reports, “the commission listed 680 common medical procedures and treatments and ranked them in order of priority.  Beginning in 2009, the commission will reimburse physicians only for procedures and treatments ranking in the top 503 of 680.  This means a Medicaid recipient in need of a procedure the commission decided to rank 504th would be ineligible for the procedure.”

    If you think that’s just a problem for poor Oregonians, you’re wrong.  That is precisely what the Obama administration promised to do to all Americans in an April 19 Meet The Press appearance by White House advisor Lawrence Summers. 

    Claiming health care is becoming more expensive; not because government regulations drives up costs, but because too many people get health care, Summers flatly stated the White House wants to begin “coordinating” your doctor’s decisions so they cut the cost of health care by 30% by simply denying people possibly life-saving procedures.

    Along with their plan to invade the health care market with taxpayer-subsidized insurance and prohibit any private health insurance plan not rubber-stamped by the government, the intent is the eradication of private health insurance and total control of health care. 

   Illinois Democrat Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky even openly admitted that in a speech to cheering left-wing activists that was captured on tape.

   Once Obama gets control of health care, you will have no choice in your health coverage.  You will be forced to accept rationed care. 

    The March 27 Wall Street Journal calls it “the Bay State bait and switch,” referring to Massachusetts, where Republican Governor Mitt Romney launched the government health care invasion. 

    “First, create vast new entitlements that can never be repealed, then later take the less popular step of rationing care when it’s their last hope to save the federal [government’s fiscal situation.]…The real lesson of Massachusetts is that reform proponents won’t tell Americans the truth about what ‘universal coverage’ really means: Runaway costs followed by price controls and bureaucratic rationing,” the Journal writes.

    To quote Ted Knight in one of his greatest roles, “You’ll get nothing, and like it.”

    It’s the same kind of rationed care you’ll find in nations like France and the United Kingdom, where waiting lists for lifesaving procedures are sometimes years-long, and the death rates from breast and prostate cancer are twice to three times higher than in the United States.

    If you think you can count on Republicans to stop it, you’re wrong.  In states like Utah, it’s the Republican governor expanding government-run health care.  Here in Washington, The Politico newspaper reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is meeting with nearly a dozen Republicans to secure their support of Obama’s socialized medicine takeover.

    And as the Wall Street Journal just showed us, they’re looking at a Republican governor – Mitt Romney – for their inspiration.

    If Obama and the Republicans are successful, they will have not only nationalized one-seventh of the economy, but they will have made millions of Americans dependent on government for their very lives – and dependent on a system built on rationing and substandard care that requires drastically higher taxes to maintain.

    Skyrocketing taxes, bigger government and more dependency are precisely why millions of Americans oppose the Obama health care scheme – and the Libertarian Party is the only party that represents them.

    Only Libertarians can oppose the Obama health care scheme, because Republicans are just as guilty as Democrats.  Their Medicare prescription drug entitlement, the biggest expansion of the welfare program since Lyndon Johnson created it, simply laid the pavement for Obama’s road to socialized medicine.

    And only Libertarians believe in the real solution to rising health care costs – opening up the health insurance market, knocking down regulations that delay and drive up the costs of developing new medicines and treatments, and repealing protectionist regulations installed by connected lobbyists to force more competition into the system.

    Government-run and rationed health care, responsible for skyrocketing taxes and higher death rates in other countries, is already here.  You can thank both Democrats and Republicans for that.

    But it doesn’t have to be that way.  We can provide affordable health care to all. With your support, the Libertarian Party can continue to fight for a vibrant marketplace of affordable, quality care.

The head of the Central Intelligence Agency is rejecting claims by the leader of the House of Representatives that the CIA misled her about the use of waterboarding on suspected terrorists during a 2002 briefing.

CIA Director Leon Panetta told employees in a written statement Friday that records show the agency truthfully briefed lawmakers that year, during a closed session on enhanced interrogation methods.

Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who is the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, told reporters Thursday a CIA team under the Republican Bush administration specifically told her waterboarding, a practice that stimulates drowning, was not being used. Pelosi said she did not learn until five months later that the practice had already been used at the time of that 2002 briefing.

Pelosi has been under pressure by rival Republicans to answer questions about what she knew, and when she was told about the use of waterboarding, a practice President Barack Obama has called torture.

Panetta, a Democrat, and former senior member and close colleague of Pelosi in the House of Representatives, who was appointed by Mr. Obama, told employees it is not the agency's practice to mislead Congress. He also urged them to ignore the political battle and remain focused on their mission.

Somebody call me when Nancy Pelosi gets her story straight.

So far, the House speaker's explanation of what and when she knew about the Bush administration's policy of torturing suspected terrorists is crookeder than Dick Cheney's smile.

Indeed, it has evolved from a straightforward avowal that, with apologies to Sgt. Schultz from "Hogan's Heroes," she knew "nothing! NO-thing!" about waterboarding, to an admission that maybe she knew a little something after all, given that she was briefed as early as September 2002, that the Bush administration was considering the tactic. Pelosi's explanation: She was told waterboarding had been "discussed," not that it was actually being used. Maybe you could give her a pass on it, except that we subsequently learn from the Washington Post one of her top aides was briefed in early 2003 that waterboarding "was in fact being used" against a terrorism suspect. It is inconceivable that he would have withheld that information from his boss.

"Obama Is a Statist, Not a Socialist" by Edward H. Crane (Cato Institute: Commentary)

Barack Obama is not a socialist. He is a thoroughgoing statist, perhaps the worst in American history. And with Wilson, FDR, and LBJ, he's got some serious competition. Republicans in Congress lack the leadership to challenge the president's audacious power grabs.

There is a reason sales of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged are going through the roof. The book is nothing if not prescient. The "Troubled Assets Relief Program" is straight from its pages.

Time for those conservatives serious about limited government to re-read Goldwater's Conscience of a Conservative.

Conservatives should jettison the social agenda of gay marriage, flag burning, and school prayer, and focus instead on federalism. Politics is about man's relationship to the state. That relationship, to be healthy, should be minimal.
