There was an immediate response to Pelosi and Hoyer from House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. "To label Americans who are expressing vocal opposition to the Democrats' plan 'un-American' is outrageous and reprehensible," Boehner said in a statement.
HERE ARE THE FACTS.
Quinnipiac Poll: 75% of Americans don't believe government run health care will be deficit neutral. 59% are against health care reform if the measure is supported by only the Democrats.
Gallup Poll: 63% say Obama's plan will worse their personal medical care.
National Public Radio Poll: 47% oppose Obama's plan and 42% support it.
New York Times/CBS Poll: 77% of Americans fear costs will increase under government run health care.
TIME Poll: 56% fear losing freedom to choose their own doctor/plan under government run health care.
Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll: 42% say Obama's plan is a bad idea vs. 36% saying it's a good idea
The level of opposition tops 50% and is coming from the right, the middle and the left. A CNN Poll conducted last week found that 71% of Americans say they are likely to attend a Town Hall meeting to express their opinion on health care. ALL the media outlets have reported that the overwhelming majority of those who attend the town hall meetings are adamantly against the Obama plan.
