Woman pulls down pope at Christmas Mass

The Vatican says it will review its security procedures after a woman involved in a 2008 security breach jumped a barrier in St. Peter's Basilica during Christmas Eve Mass and knocked down the pope.

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi says it's not realistic to think the Vatican can ensure 100 percent security for Pope Benedict XVI considering he is regularly surrounded by tens of thousands of people for his audiences, Masses, papal greetings and other events.

But the Vatican's security officials will review the episode and "make their considerations," Lombardi tells The Associated Press, noting that it's only reasonable to expect that those responsible for the pontiff's security would "try to learn from experience."

A Cardinal in the procession, suffered a broken leg as a result of the attack.
