Well, Dirty Harry escaped again. The only Democrat who performed better than expected at the polls yesterday was Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader. Congratulations to SEIU and the national labor movement. You won the battle. Good luck with the war.
Nevada leads the country in combined unemployment, foreclosures, and bankruptcies, yet they just re-elected the man who lead them into the abyss.
I've been to Las Vegas almost 100 times since 1980. I have stayed/played in virtually every hotel/casino in Clark County over the past 30 years. I returned from my last trip 41 days ago. It may very well be my LAST trip ever. The real losers are the local Clark County people. They made the choice and will have to reap the consequences. I don't plan on spending another dime in Nevada. I'll be taking my poker money to Oklahoma, Louisiana or Arizona until the Texas legislature wakes up. Las Vegas is officially South Detroit now. Good luck with all that!
Nationally, the GOP enjoyed a historical victory in the House of Representatives, thanks to the Tea Party. The GOP also dominated the Governors' races and are only four seats shy of re-taking the Senate.
More good news, the Bush tax cuts will be extended at least two years, then legislative gridlock ensues for the remainder of the term. A DO NOTHING congress is far better than a tax and spend congress. The campaign for 2012 begins at noon today when the Divider in Chief gives his first campaign speech.
