The ALCS will be returning to Arlington for at least one more game. The Rangers shut out the Yankees 8-0 with Cliff Lee pitching 8 scoreless innings, to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven series. Lee combined with closer Natalie Feliz to strike out 15 NY batters.
Another postseason start, another record-setting performance for the Rangers' Cliff Lee.
When the left-hander struck out his 10th Yankees batter on Monday night in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, he became the first pitcher in Major League history to fan 10 or more three times in a single postseason.
Lee, who did not allow a hit until Jorge Posada poked a single to right with two outs in the fifth on Monday, now has five career playoff games with 10 or more strikeouts, which ties him with Bob Gibson and Randy Johnson for the most all-time.
After beating the Yankees like a red headed step child tonight, the Texas Rangers are 5-0 in the post season, wearing blue caps. The team is 0-3 wearing red caps. Nuff said.
