Bonzer Kidney Stone to be Crushed Today: Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)

After more than a month of fighting infections, receiving sonograms, CT scans, IVP's and getting the medical run around, Bonzer will finally get the treatment required to remove a kidney stone that has been lodged in his ureter for some time. Approximately, ten years ago, Bonzer had the same problem, which took less than a week from start to finish, to remedy with lithotripsy.  But as my brother says, this country already practices socialized medicine. The health care system is run by the major insurance companies.  These are the same people who run the medicare program through government contracts.  I can assure you that the U.S. health care system is a tangled web of ever increasing red tape and out of pocket expenses for the insured.

Yesterday was spent running around paying the hospital and doctors.  Now 15% of the cost of most medical procedures and hospital expenses are not covered by Blue Cross/BS or any of the insurance companies. The cost keeps increasing, while the quality of care continues to decrease in the U.S. health care system.

The days of receiving a bill after you are treated are over.  Patients have to pay before the doctors or hospitals will play!  The best days of living in this country are behind us in more ways than one.
